An After School Program

In the primary school classrooms, particularly in suburban or outskirts areas of the capital, there is usually only one teacher responsible for over 50 students. This setup makes it challenging for teachers to provide equal attention to each student during regular class hours. Consequently, many students and their parents opt for private coaching outside of the regular school schedule, which can be costly. The increased inflation rates have exacerbated this issue for underprivileged communities, turning coaching classes into a luxury that many cannot afford. Due to financial constraints, parents are often compelled to lower their children’s educational standards, aiming merely to pass their classes and progress to the next grade. This situation creates a significant learning gap, posing a risk of irreversible educational damage in the long term. Presently, coaching centers charge a minimum of 1,200 BDT per month for three core subjects, while home tutors may cost over 5,000 BDT per month. These expenses are overwhelming and impractical for lower-income families, rendering quality education too expensive for underprivileged students, despite the declaration of free education in Bangladesh.

library

We have a small, cozy library called the “Squadron Leader Shafayat Memorial Library,” equipped with 500 books specifically curated for children to improve their reading skills and cultivate good reading habits. We firmly believe that reading serves as a gateway to learning about a wide range of topics. It enables us to explore new ideas and educate ourselves in any area of life that captures our interest.
